Solos, Duos, & Trios
An opportunity to work with one of our award-winning choreographers, expand your performance skills, and compete with The Happening. Open to all dancers—participation on a Competition Team is not required. We offer routines across a variety of ages, levels, and disciplines.
Each solo, duet, or trio is supported with 8 hours of rehearsal time alongside a choreographer, allowing dancers to develop a personalized and polished performance. Dancers will showcase their piece at our company showcase, EMBARK, and go on to compete at four competitions throughout the spring season.
Build confidence, gain technical experience, and grow as performers in a focused and individualized setting.
Expectations
Our dancers are expected to come to rehearsals ready to build, not review, their routines. Between sessions, they should practice choreography, apply cleaning notes, and work on artistic expression and performance quality. Commitment to improvement also includes daily practice, refining technique, adding layers, and exploring emotional storytelling.
Availability for specific Saturdays and Sundays during the season is required, and any props needed for Solos, Duets, or Trios are the responsibility of the dancer’s family. These expectations help ensure every dancer is growing, performing at their best, and contributing to a focused, high-energy rehearsal environment.

Time Commitment
Dancers will be required to attend a minimum of 8 hours of rehearsal with their choreographer, as well as develop a dedicated practice routine. They'll need to prepare at home each day, meet with their duo/trio partners regularly if applicable, and book extra studio time at The Happening in order to be ready for competition season.
Free Studio Hours
At The Happening, we offer free studio hours for our competitive dancers to practice. This is not common among dance studios, and must be respected as the privilege that it is. Bookings are not guaranteed and must be scheduled through our admin team. Please note that there are many ways for dancers to meet and go over their routine if they don’t receive the studio time requested.
