For those born to perform, our competitive programs offer dedicated dancers the chance to train, grow, and take the stage. At The Happening, we offer a range of audition-based teams—including Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Advanced Showcase Teams, as well as Junior and Senior Hip Hop Teams—along with opportunities for Solos, Duets, and Trios.

What it takes.

Greater expectations are placed on competitive dancers. This means the ability to commit time & energy to dance inside and outside of the studio, a demonstration of superior leadership qualities, and an increased desire to perform and work for these opportunities.

Competitive dancers are expected to show more accountability with regular home practice of all materials learned throughout the week. This means covering more material than regular classes, with the level of commitment being essential for the group’s success.

Competitive dancers will be expected to attend more rehearsals and shows than our regular students, with stricter attendance policies than recreational dancers. Attendance is fundamental and necessary to keep up with the pace of our competitive teams.

Competitive dancers are required to take additional classes outside of their competition team’s weekly rehearsals. This is not only to build upon the repertoire necessary for demanding choreography, but also to expand their abilities as a leader and a team player.
